Dryathlon day 15: Snow joke!

I think it’s fair to say that Norfolk has been in the grip of arctic weather today! After more snow over night we woke up to about 3 inches of the white stuff which was not, much to the disappointment of the kids, enough to close their school and 6th form college! So it was business as usual and I set off for my morning trudge just after 8.15.  As you will see by the photos this morning’s walk was beautiful. There was a lovely crunch of freshly fallen snow under foot and the rising sun made everything sparkle and glisten.

By lunchtime the clouds had gathered again and we were soon in the midst of a full blown blizzard.  The school and college then decided this would be a good time to rouse parents from their warm offices and to bring their off spring home so Geoff then ventured out into the whiteout leaving me to fret in the office.  Looking at the road madness across the county I think he got  away lightly with a two hour round trip.  Norwich was in complete chaos with gridlocked roads and  cars skidding everywhere.  And now the temperatures are plummeting with temperatures as low as -10 forecast.  I must admit a nice hot mulled wine would  really go down a treat right now but the kettle calls instead!

I struggled with the lack of wine for different reasons today but plenty of tea did the trick! If it snows at the weekend I’m planning to make hot spiced apple. Not looking forward to school journey tomorrow!

Hopefully you won’t have had to make that journey this morning. My two are off and we are going to the Green for snowball fights! Spiced apple now there’s a good idea!
