Late this afternoon I did the first big shop since Christmas. Foolishly I thought it would be cheaper as I would not be buying any wine or beer (my husband Geoff is also keeping me company as a Dryathlete). How wrong I was! I spent a fortune on fruit, veg and salad along with every non alcoholic beverage I could find. You can see a sample above along with my glass of red grape juice zazzed up with a bit of sparkling mineral water. It is really rather pleasant if a little sweet which means I’m drinking it a lot slower than I would a glass of red wine!
On a more serious note earlier in the day I met up with my Mum and a family friend for coffee. The friend’s husband is seriously ill in hospital after an operation for cancer of the jaw. For the last three months he has been unable to talk and is being fed through a tube. This really put things in perspective. Going without alcohol for a month is a very small price to pay to raise money for such a worthy cause as Cancer Research. So please support me or other Drytahletes if you can with a small donation. Think you just saved me from falling off the wagon! Also doing dryathlon so thank you :0)
I’m glad it helped! Good luck with the rest of the month!
