Greg James, Henry Moore and 50 years of the UEA

Greg James and Reya

Back in September, when the sun was still shining and Christmas was just a distant twinkle, I went along to the UEA for their 50th anniversary celebrations. It was a glorious day and the campus was full of visitors of all ages taking part in a huge range of activities.  With me on the visit was my daughter, one of her friends and my niece and, although they were mildly interested in the goings on, they were keener on seeing Radio 1 DJ and ex student Greg James, who was scheduled to open the refurbished post office.  They were not disappointed as you can see from the photos!

I should add at this point say that our family has a bit of a connection with Greg, as back in the summer of 2011 my son Tom was interviewed on his Radio 1 show about his Bum Dance video that he made with a friend.  Embarrassing though I am to my kids at times, my daughter was very grateful for me introducing myself to Greg as the mother of the famous bum dancer and he was happy to pose for photos!

After the excitement I took the girls on a guided tour of the campus (I worked at the UEA for 4 years back in the 90’s so know it very well) before stopping finally to do something unspeakable to a Henry Moore statue!
