So the Oxford dictionary have announced today that the word of the year is selfie.  In case you’ve been living in a nice cave away from our social media frenzied world it is listed as:

selfie noun, informal
(also selfy; plural selfies)
a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website

OK a woman of my mature years should know better than to take selfies – but yes I do have several in my phone archive!  Most of them you understand are ironic and many with my teenage daughter who is young enough to get away with it.  So I’ve put together a little montage of those taken since I got my new phone back in May,  Unsurprisingly the first picture taken on it was a selfie – by my daughter!

PS WordPress spell check doesn’t recognise the word selfie yet 😉
