Life is very busy at the moment – work has been manic and there have been some big significant personal and family issues to deal with – so it was great to escape from everything for a bit a go to a fantastic concert in the Thetford forest last week!
When it was announced that Tom Odell was playing in Thetford Forest at the start of the year my daughter was beside herself with excitement as he is her number one favourite artist, and not for the first time this year, I was poised at the computer at 9.00 in the morning ready to buy gig tickets as soon as they were released. Much to my daughters joy we were successful and so it was some six months later we found ourselves in a Norfolk forest on a gorgeous sunny summer’s evening, to see Tom perform.
Unlike many of the audience in my “older” age group I was not allowed to take a chair to watch the concert but had to go to the front and fan girl with my daughter – and in all honesty I’m glad that I did. The atmosphere was great and we had a fabulous spot to soak up the tremendous energy from Tom’s performance. It also of course gave me the opportunity to get some good photographs. While everyone was holding up their phones to take pictures or record video, I had our ancient but trusty combination of a Canon 300D and 70-300 lens on hand. Ironically I was too close with this kit to get a good wide shot but was pretty pleased with the results all the same!
