We love a good Christmas ghost story in our house – from the scholarly chillers of M R James to modern adaptations like Crickley Hall which concluded last night. One of our favourite ways to enjoy a story is to sit round the fire by candle light while someone reads a spine chiller – even better if one of us has written them ourselves. Sadly most years it’s only the children who have managed to rustle up a tale in time for Christmas but this year I’ve got plenty of ideas and inspiration for a creepy tale or two. These two photos for example – taken this evening at the viewing for tomorrows auction at Watton sale rooms. What is it about dolls and ventriloquist dummies that make them so scary…..?
