Happy New Year and Dryathlon day 1!

Dryathlon 2014 day 1A year ago I took part in the first ever Dryathlon in aid of Cancer Research and for the whole of January I didn’t touch a drop of alcohol. It was actually a good thing to do for lots of reasons and I blogged about it here everyday.   I did say never again on the first of February as I tucked into my first glass of wine for 31 days but over the course of 2013  I saw cancer affect the lives of many people know, or who are part of my wider circle of contacts.  Taking part in this great fundraiser seemed a small price to pay for such a worthy cause so once again I’m proud to say that I’m once again a Dyathlete! I’ve also joined a friend’s team too The Lovely Ladies so I’ll keep you up to date on that too!

I have to say first thing this morning as I helped my son Tom clear away from his rather riotous party which went on well into the small hours, the idea of an alcoholic drink was the last thing on my mind! This year I’m also going to try to shed a some of the weight that I’ve put on over the course of the last year, so I’ll keep you up to date with my progress on that too.  Look out for tomorrows post where I will be revealing the new gadget that I’ve bought to help me with both quests!

In the meantime you can check out my sponsorship page here: http://www.justgiving.com/DryDebs

PS. Today was a foul wet and windy day and after clearing up this morning I have been no further than the sofa. The photo above was my attempt to do something creative by writing Dryathlon 2014 on our kitchen window.  Bit of an epic fail really but it’s the though that counts!
