For the last couple of weeks we’ve been away in France – our first proper family holiday for five years! As is usual with us, we left things until the very last minute and booked everything in just under 14 days! We were so lucky to find a beautiful gite called Grand Houx to rent in a very unspoilt rural part of Northern France between Normandy and the Loire. It was a fantastic little retreat full of character (and low ceilings so there were a few sore heads to start with!) and very well equipped. There was also a lovely big garden where we spent many a happy hour reading and sipping a glass (or two!) of French wine. The gite is owned by a British couple David and Alison who did their very best to make our stay brilliant. The cold beers awaiting us in the fridge when we arrived after a long hot journey certainly hit the spot!
Of course we couldn’t quite leave everything behind so just one of our cameras came along with us – here are a few snaps from the trip…..
